Across the Northeast, homes are generally older compared to those in the rest of the nation. According to the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), the median age of housing stock in Massachusetts was 54 years. Only one other state has a higher median age of 57 years. Additionally, half of all owner-occupied homes in the state were built before 1962.
